Your Weekend Guide #3

Your weekend guide is ready.
Even though the weather isn’t really showing us its best, it’s soon to be weekend.
Of course we’re ready with inspiration for the forthcoming weekend. May you have a good one!

new menu from Nørrebro Bryghus – Nørrebro Bryghus – Ryesgade 3 , 2200 CPH N

It’s been a rough week, and you’ve been longing for the weekend ever since monday. We suggest you start the weekend by treating yourself with some serious comfort food and beverages in good company.
As it turns out, our friends from Nørrebro Bryghus just changed their restaurant menu, offering mouthwatering drops of heaven. We have fallen hard for the refined and modern interpretation of the classic, Danish dessert “Rødgrød med Fløde”.
To accompany good company and food, Nørrebro Bryghus is just ready to serve you a new fresh-out-the-cask porter, the RØGSLØR (Translates as Smokescreen). This new, black beauty is a 6,8% alc porter with, brewed with whisky malt and other black goodies. Bon appetite.

The playground on Hauser Plads – Hauser Plads, 1127 Copenhagen K

If you haven’t noticed yet, Copenhagen has been given quite an architectural treasure. A new playground on Hauser Plads has surfaced. The architectural company behind the playground, Polyform, has really created a quirky and visually intriguing space for children to play, with a characteristic white paling enclosing the playground.
If you have children, and even if you don’t, we definitely recommend that you’ll swing by this eye-catching gem of playground.

Re-discover the love for your city – Everywhere in Copenhagen, Denmark

You may recall that the renowned lifestyle magazine Monocle named Copenhagen to be the most livable city in the world 2013. To remind you why, we suggest that you head out on a Sunday stroll, and (re)-discover all the greatness Copenhagen has to offer. Get up on your iron horse and get out there, enjoy the astonishing architecture and the numerous harbor swimming pools, and see for yourself why Copenhagen is yet again named the most livable city in the world 2013.

Member News Monday

Another week has passed in the CPHmade-network, and to keep you updated about our members’ activities we’ve assembled some of the passed week’s highlights in Member News Monday.

• The jewellery designer Karina Hunnerup is ready with a new astonishing piece of jewellery. HUNN Jewellery just launched the Shell Ring crafted in 18ct gold, which matches quite well with all the sun we’ve been blessed with lately. Pay Hunn Jewellery a visit in Peder Hvitfeldts Stræde 10 in Copenhagen’s inner city area, and see the astonishing SHELL ring with your own eyes.

• The hardworking brewers from Nørrebro Bryghus just finished up on a new, bone-dry version of the pale ale called TØRSTIG. To our non-danish readers TØRSTIG means THIRSTY, and on their location on Ryesgade 3, Nørrebro Bryghus is now ready to serve you a chilled glass of the refreshing TØRSTIG, straight from the tap.

• More news about beer. Mikkeller just added a new variant to their “Beer Geek” project, offering you the chance of quenching your thirst with a Vanilla Milkshake inspired oatmeal stout.
A strong vanilla flavor as an ingredient in beer may sound like an odd combination, however we hear that the result is delightful and refreshing.
You can buy Mikkeller’s Vanilla Shake in their webshop now.

• NEW Member to the CPHmade Network.
In our search for new members to the CPHmade network, we recently came across a relatively new interior design company called Virkvärftet.
Virkvärftet crafts quirky and cool accessories for the home, in a style that’s easily recognized.
The products from Virkvärftet are made from a laser cutter, and assembled by human hand.
We’re pleased to inform you that Virkvärftet is now a part of the CPHmade network. Stay tuned for more news about Virkvärftet in the future.

A Visit from Italy

On a Sunny Wednesday in April, we hosted a small event for our friends from South Tyrol on Nørrebro Bryghus. South Tyrol Marketing sent a group of tour operators to Copenhagen to experience what our capital has to offer, and after visits at renowned restaurants like NOMA and Geranium, the busy delegation from South Tyrol paid CPHmade a visit on Nørrebro Bryghus.
Right after spending some time on telling about the CPHmade project, Casper from Nørrebro bryghus showed the delegation around in their charming facilities.

After a small, delicious tasting of what the well-known brewery has to offer, our friends from South Tyrol was about to become acquainted with craftsmanship they did not think they would experience in Copenhagen: handmade SKIS.
We introduced the delegation to Petter and Sigurd from our member WoodCouture, and they held a small presentation about their angle on craftsmanship. Furthermore the two wood-architects presented an intrigued audience to the “Telemark Sticks”, which is a handcrafted pair of skis – build for speed and fun. Go see for your selves!

Shortly after, we wished our friends from Italy a safe trip home and accompanied them to their bus.

3 Local breweries!

Noerrebro Bryghus Mikkeller Husbryggeriet Jacobsen CPHmade Spring 2013

Beer brewers from Copenhagen!

It seems like spring is finally here, and we’ve been given quite a lot of the sun that we missed so much. From our humble workspace we can see that cafés, restaurants and bars are slowly preparing for their outdoors service. Besides higher temperatures, this usually means that the focus on beer is increasing considerably. We really like our beer in Copenhagen, and we’re known all over the world for our traditional beers, Carlsberg and Tuborg. But if you’re looking for something different, you should know that Copenhagen actually has three fantastic individual breweries with an experimental approach to both taste and brewing.

Mikkeller is a rather small brewery that has gained a lot of success, due to its experimental interpretations on every process in brewing a beer.
Mikkeller started out as a bar on Viktoriagade in Copenhagen’s city area Vesterbro, but now the demand for more beer from Mikkeller made the team behind the little brewery plan on opening up another bar in the city area Nørrebro. Visit Mikkeller Bar on Viktoriagade 8, 1655 København V

Nørrebro Bryghus

Nørrebro Bryghus is a brewery that’s based in Copenhagen’s city area, Nørrebro. The brewery started off in 2003 as a bar and a restaurant centred on beer. Today, ten years later, the little brewery has become an institution within the business, and is well known in all parts of Denmark. However, the approach to brewing beer is still the same as it was ten years ago. Everything is allowed, every kind of taste is allowed as long as the craftsmanship is respected, and the result is superb.
Visit Nørrebro Bryghus on Ryesgade 3, 2200 København N

Husbryggeriet Jacobsen

Husbryggeriet Jacobsen is a part of the largest brewing company in Denmark, Carlsberg. Jacobsen brews a wide range of exclusive, special beers, and is actually the only part of the Carlsberg brewery Group that’s still brewing in Copenhagen. The Jacobsen brewery is retaining proud traditions within brewery, and only the best ingredients are good enough for their beer.

Nørrebro Bryghus’ beer ambassador named expert in Christmas beer blind testing

Mr. Kasper Larsen from Nørrebro Bryghus again this year was named expert in the newspaper 24Timer’s annual Christmas beer blind testing. We are only slightly envious – on the other hand we obviously know that a CPHmade member definitely is the best person to judge quality.

Today we celebrate…

Whether you are on the lookout for unique decor, ceramics, bicycles, candy, hats, shoes, furniture or just fancy a beer and want to dwell for hours over bikes from Jamesville or Wrenchmonkees, we have made it easy for you, because we have gathered it all at Nørrebro Bryghus in Copenhagen tonight!

Reason why? Well if you need a reason, we celebrate a special cooperation between two of our members. Nørrebro Bryghus and Sømods Bolcher (beer and candy) pulled resources in craftsmanship together and came up with a beer out for the ordinary. This we celebrate today with our entire staff, Cphmade members, press, friends and the Copenhagen Mayor of Culture…to name just a few! Come join us between 6 and 8 pm tonight at Nørrebro Bryghus.

See you, Brian

Mood pictures from last week-end’s Copenhagen Beer Festival

The first real CPHmade product is now ready.. Meet ’Kongen af Danmark’ from Nørrebro Bryghus’

When we started out CPHmade network in September 2011 two of our very first members were Nørrebro Bryghus and Sømods Bolcher. Two very different companies, one a brewery the other a candy producer. But still they found each other and saw a potential cooperation.

So today let us present the very first CPHmade product, the Kongen af Danmark beer – based on a sweet called Kongen af Danmark from Sømods Bolcher. Kongen af Danmark is a sweet well-tasting Belgian inspired ale – the taste has been developed in close cooperation with Sømods Bolcher.

The beer will be presented at the upcoming beer festival in Copenhagen from 10-12 May. Here of course you can get the chance to taste the beer.

Beer Ambassador Kasper Larsen from Nørrebro Bryghus says:

’CPHmade was the catalyst for our new Kongen af Danmark beer. CPHmade brought us together with Sømods Bolcher, and when we met the idea of the Kongen af Denmark beer was born.

We are very happy with the result and certainly also on working together with Sømods Bolcher, and we now are looking forward to how beer enthusiast and our customers will receive this new beer.

Actually our relationship with Sømods Bolcher has been so successful that we have now also developed a hop based candy – which we also present at the upcoming beer festival’.

Here at CPHmade we clap our hands about this successful cooperation between two of our members. And we look forward to tasting the beer at the beer festival in Copenhagen. Of course we are also proud that we have a small share in Kongen af Danmark – by bringing together Nørrebro Bryghus and Sømods Bolcher.

Let this be the start for many more new exciting CPHmade products.

Beer festival 10-12 May at Carlsberg – two CPHmade members are present

Brewed on candy

While the supermarket offers the so called ‘Alcopops’ to accommodate the youth and their drinking habits, a newly cooperation between CPHmade members – Sømods bolcher and Nørrebro Bryghus – is a unique merge between skills, tradition and craftmanship to target the adult segment and develop new taste experiences in the beer category. This co-op surfaced as one of CPHmade focusses is to cater more cooperation between our members.
