Isangs Hair & Body is one of the newest members of CPHmade, and is so far the only member in our humble network who produces handmade soap.
Isangs Hair & Body offers a wide selection of handmade soap bars, body oils and shaving products. All products are organic, fair trade and contain only natural ingredients.
Isangs Hair & Body is founded by Ms Sundra Essien who with her Nigerian background has a beautiful afro hair. But as Sundra couldn’t find any suitable hair shampoo for afro hair, she decided to make it herself, and this became the start of Isangs Hair & Body.
Today, Sundra and Mr. Lasse Mulvad operate Isangs Hair & Body together, and they have managed to establish a business which sells its products to a very broad audience. Isangs clients range from everything to elderly gentlemen who take pride in traditional shaving, to young females who value organic quality shampoos and facial oils – all hand made.
If you are in the Vesterbro area, make sure to pay Isangs Hair & Body a visit in their combined workshop and shop on Flensborggade 22 – and be tempted by the scent and the many different products.

On a sunny Friday we yet again hosted a CPHmade Guided Tour.
This tour was centred on luxurious products, and we showed our audience some of the very best craftsmen in the city, and we are quite sure that this tour has generated a lot of wishes for birthdays and Christmases to come!
We started off by visiting the furrier Pia Christensen in her workspace on Gothersgade.
Pia showed us around in her workshop, and showed an intrigued audience all kinds of samples of her beautiful creations.
Furthermore, Ms. Christensen answered questions concerning her profession and gave us insight in the work processes of a traditional, yet modern furrier.
Next we walked to Thorseng Lærches Modesalon on Kronprinsensgade.
Susse welcomed us in her fitting room, a charming pavilion situated in Kings Garden.
Susse showed us examples of her haute couture creations, and gave us an introduction to her craftsmanship whilst she explained her views on women’s tailoring in modern times.
Finally we walked to one of Denmark’s oldest and most traditional jewelleries, P. Hertz.
Berit Hertz, who shortly introduced us to the story of P. Hertz, welcomed us in their impressive, charming shop on Købmagergade.
Ms. Hertz and her staff invited us on a cup of coffee, and to a clearly intrigued audience Ms. Hertz showed us examples of the high quality of jewellery that P. Hertz represents.
CPHmade would like to thank all participating guests for establishing a cosy atmosphere during this our, and we hope to see more of you guys out there!

CPHmade Guided Tours in local news!
Our latest initiative CPHmade Guided Tours was featured in yesterday’s news broadcast on the local tv-station Lorry.
Mr. Daugbjerg was invited to shortly introduce, and explain about the CPHmade Guided Tours and you can see the interview right here. (Danish only, sorry)
Ebay meets CPHmade!
The month of May turns out to be quite a busy month for us at CPHmade.
As you may recall, we recently launched CPHmade Guided Tours, and we also initiated a FACEBOOK CONTEST to celebrate 600 likes on Facebook.
To make our business even more busy, we just launched a new initiative on the CPHmade blog: CPHmade Monthly Auctions.
We have started off series a monthly auctions where you can grab yourselves a bargain on different kinds of products crafted in Copenhagen.
This month we are offering you the chance of getting a pair of superbly designed bike pedals from the legendary bike manufacturer Søren Sögreni.
The pedals are absolutely ideal for spicing up your bike for the spring season!
Like all products from Sögreni, these bike pedals are crafted by hand in the highest quality possible.
The pedals are crafted from the finest copper and solid steel, which makes this construction extremely durable and basically superior to rust.
With a starting bid as low as 8$, you should stop by our online auction on Ebay, and stay tuned for more Copenhagen produced goods to be auctioned off the forthcoming months.
When you think of hats, you probably have a quite clear understanding of what a proper hat looks like: functioning as covering for the head, often with a shaped crown and brim to keep rain and sun away.
However, the understanding of a classic hat varies from person to person, and handmade hats do not always feature large brims.
As it turns out, small 1950′s styled hats with small brims are also very popular, and Susanne Juul creates some of the most beautilful ones you can find offering a wide selection of different kinds of trimming.
One of Susannes latest creations was decorated with ivy
leaves hand-formed in felt, ordered by a customer with ivy growing all
over her house. Susanne Juul can basically create every kind of leaf you can possibly imagine in felt, which makes her hats unique and individual.

Our latest project, CPHmade Guided Tours, finally started off yesterday.
For our very first tour, we welcomed guests from France, Belgium, India, Singapore and Rumania. We started off by meeting at Sögreni Bikes on Sankt Peders Stræde. Søren Sögreni welcomed us by giving an introduction to his principles within his craftsmanship, and showed us around in his workshop.
Next we walked to Studiestræde, where we met with Anne-Mette from Schönwerk.
Anne-Mette showed us around in the charming little combined shop/workspace, and answered all kinds of questions from the curious audience.
Last but not least, we walked to Skindergade where we visited Sort Slips Hvidt Slips.
We were welcomed by Victoria, one half of the Sort Slips Hvidt Slips duo, who showed us around in their unique universe of home accessories and eye-catching couture!
We even have more photos from the tour, which are available right here!
All in all a great success, and we are very much looking forward to seeing some of you guys out there!

On a Sunny Wednesday in April, we hosted a small event for our friends from South Tyrol on Nørrebro Bryghus. South Tyrol Marketing sent a group of tour operators to Copenhagen to experience what our capital has to offer, and after visits at renowned restaurants like NOMA and Geranium, the busy delegation from South Tyrol paid CPHmade a visit on Nørrebro Bryghus.
Right after spending some time on telling about the CPHmade project, Casper from Nørrebro bryghus showed the delegation around in their charming facilities.
After a small, delicious tasting of what the well-known brewery has to offer, our friends from South Tyrol was about to become acquainted with craftsmanship they did not think they would experience in Copenhagen: handmade SKIS.
We introduced the delegation to Petter and Sigurd from our member WoodCouture, and they held a small presentation about their angle on craftsmanship. Furthermore the two wood-architects presented an intrigued audience to the “Telemark Sticks”, which is a handcrafted pair of skis – build for speed and fun. Go see for your selves!
Shortly after, we wished our friends from Italy a safe trip home and accompanied them to their bus.

GREAT news from our dear members Monomade and Emquies-Holstein!
The two members from CPHmade have been selected to participate in TRAPHOLT’s annual Whitsunday Market! Emquies-Holstein and Monomade has been handpicked to participate in the Whitsunday Market, alongside with 36 of the very best craftsmen in Denmark.
With architectonic finesse, the two architects Kira Snowman and Uffe Topsøe-Jensen crafts beautiful home accessories by hand, and the results are simple geometric shapes crafted in exquisite materials. As if one CPHmade member represented at Trapholt’s Witsunday Market was not enough, we are proud to inform you that you are also able experience the exquisite jewellery from Emquies-Holstein at the market.
The dynamic goldsmith duo has gained quite a lot of attention the last couple of months for their edgy jewellery designs. As you may remember, the talented crafts(wo)man Signe Emdal was involved in a very interesting collaboration with the National Gallery of Denmark.
Signe’s company, Emdal Colorknit, is well known for her scarf called “a wearable hug”, and for the National Gallery of Denmark’s recent exhibtion “Flowers and Worldviews”, Emdal Colorknit crafted and designed two astonishing wearable hugs.
When we first announced the interesting collaboration, we showed you pictures of the nicely designed scarves, and now we’re ready with a nice video, where you can see “the making of” the special edition of the wearable hug. Enjoy!
This might be old news in the land of movie fanatics, but the Danish movie director Nicholas Winding Refn, has been selected to participate in the main competition of this years Cannes Film Festival, with his latest motion picture “Only God Forgives”.
Denmark actually has quite good traditions of winning the “Palme D’or’” (the highest prized awarded at the Cannes Film Festival), and this year the critics predict quite good chances for another Danish success at the internationally renowned film festival.
With its newly release on DVD/BLUERAY etc., some of you may remember last year’s Cannes Film Festival, when the Danish movie director Thomas Vinterberg gained a lot of recognition and respect for his motion picture “The Hunt”.
On their way to accept “The Hunt”‘s awards in categories like best male actor, the cast and crew were caught on the red carpet. At that event, one of the actors in The Hunt, Susse Wold, was wearing some quite spectacular jewellery from the CPHmade member, the talented goldsmith Mads Heindorf.
See some of the fantastic jewelry in the gallery, and stay tuned for more news about Mads Heindorff Jewellery in the future.

Good news from our friends from Place de Bleu!
Place de Bleu is a Danish socio-economic project, which produces astonishing home accessories and children’s clothing. The goods from Place de Bleu is crafted and designed by ethnical minority women, offering the minority women in Copenhagen a chance to enter the Danish job market.
With the unique purpose of uniting vibrant, ethnic crafts with classic and clean Scandinavian design, Place de Bleu is gaining quite a lot of attention, and has now teamed up with the Danish department store “Magasin du Nord” situated on Kongens Nytorv.
Place de Bleu has opened a POP-UP shop in Magasin du Nord’s interior department on the 3rd floor. Thus you are right now able to experience Place de Bleu’s unique talent of picking just the right materials, the colours and of course experience the high quality of Place de Bleu’s home accessories!
However, if you’re not in the area of Copenhagen, you can check out our selection, and buy Place de Bleu‘s colorful accessories
Our dear member, the goldsmith duo Emquies-Holstein is featured in this issue month’s issue of Costume Magazine!
From their charming goldsmith studio in the heart of Copenhagen, the designers Diana Holstein and Hanan Emquies make personal, contemporary handcrafted jewelry with a keen eye on tradition.
The creative duo is driven by a passion for individual storytelling, unique design and uncompromising craftsmanship, which just in a few years has turned the astonishing jewelry by Emquies-Holstein into acclaimed conversation pieces. The Danish press are keeping their eyes on the talented duo, and THIS month the Danish fashion magazine Costume featured the pendant from Emquies-Holstein’s collection “WHOLE”. The pendant consists of a silver chain and a ring made from 18k gold.
The “Whole Collection” from Emquies-Holstein centres on the thoughts of Albert Einstein, stating that we are all part of a bigger whole with a mutual responsibility towards each other. In a highly poetic, yet very simple and minimalistic design the Whole Collection encourages us to think holistically, since we are all part of the same organism. As the collection’s English name “Whole” suggests, every piece of jewellery is designed with round circular shapes in mind to symbolize the unique whole of all things in life. A universal message with global sympathy.
A Birthday Invitation
You are hereby invited to our member “Multitaske”’s first birthday!
